About White Poppy Studios
As an immigrant to Essex's shores, I have found a camaraderie with the Essex Woman, an archetypal gobby, brash and bold woman who works hard and loves harder.
Housing White Poppy Somatic Studios in the Dengie has meant acknowledging the lives of the women who came before me, including a woman known only as 'Witchy Dame' who was drowned for witchcraft after being seen carrying a 'large, white-headed poppy' through the gardens of her neighbours in Rochford. I feel her joy to have found such a beauty.
Another woman, Isabel Whyte, was brought before the law accused of witchcraft in 1600; though she was one of the fortunate few acquitted, waiting for her Quarter Trial and then living with the stain of her accusation would have made life painful. I feel her fear and betrayal at being seen as other.
Isabel Whyte lived in Purleigh, where White Poppy Studios now resides on the ancestral lands of local legend 'Shotgun Sally,' a woman whose fierce protection of her land and the working farm it houses transformed Wash Farms into a charity that supports animals. I feel her fierceness and protection.
About White Poppy Somatics Methods

Sacred Somatic Journeys® is the modality of self-healing bodywork that trusts the body's knowledge, the nervous system's direction, the breath's awareness, and our ability to confront, shed and integrate our past experiences. My role in your journey is not as your healer, but as your witness, cheerleader and space-holder.

White Poppy Somatic Tarot is a method of working with the body through the art & archetypes of the Tarot that I have developed through trauma-informed psychotherapeutic models such as IFS & Polyvegal Theory. A person-centric approach assumes that the client, not the reader, is the expert of the client's life. We are not inviting any third parties, entities or spirits to predict your future self, but are instead inviting all of us to the reading to allow for an embodiment of the past, present & future through the lens of your chosen Tarot cards.

About Gabrielle

I never wanted to be a therapist. When people would tell me what a good therapist I would make all I heard was, "You feel so deeply; that's a chasm I can pour my own pain into." I first chose myself over others and am glad to have taken the road less traveled to get to where I am now, standing at the threshold of White Poppy Somatics where your story matters and your healing is self-led. Blending a deep love of all things neuroscience, psychology & spirituality, it is an honour and a joy to call myself a Somatic practitioner specialising in bodywork and trauma-recovery. Even as I walk alongside my clients through Somatic bodywork and person-centric Somatic Tarot readings, I am continuing my own journey to a better understanding of what it means to be embodied.
Training & Education
2026
Sacred Somatic Journeys®
Beginning in late 2025 I began my personal Sacred Somatic Journey and spent much of 2026 immersed in the work. In July, 2026 I received my Journey into the Sacred Heart Certification in the Sacred Somatic Journeys® method of bodywork, accredited by IPHM. I am currently enrolled in on-going training within this modality and am supported via supervision.
2026
The Centre for Healing
Certified Trauma-Informed Coach. As part of my greater education I completed the Trauma-Informed Coach certification in order to better understand and support my clients.
2021
London University of Roehampton
M.A. in Children's Literature with Honours. My graduate thesis explored the psychoanalytic framework of the Magical Realism sub-genre of Young Adult Literature and its role in dismantling restrictive and pathologizing archetypal identities in fantastical settings.
2019
Dartmouth University of Massachusetts
B.A. in Women & Gender Studies, graduated Magna Cum Laude. After many health-related challenges on the path to obtaining my degree, including an absence from University and transfers, I completed my degree with enough credits to count towards a BA/MA. I completed all specialisations within this multi-faceted Sociological degree and my graduate thesis focused on the Controlling Images of Disability Narratives, building upon the works of Patricia Hill-Collins, Joanna Hedva and others to explore the ways the Western Medical-Industrial Complex first pathologizes the disabled woman and then makes disabled women out of those marginalized in society.
